Sustainable Reef Suppliers (SRS Vanuatu) is located on the island of Efate, in the Vanuatu group. After European rule under the name “New Hebrides” Vanuatu became independent in 1980. The group of Vanuatu islands has a population of approximately 250,000 people.

SRS operates in an area called “blacksands” located just a few minutes from the Port Vila airport. Reef Solutions, our sister company is located in an area called “Pangona” approximately 30 minutes from SRS. Reef solutions is responsible for our coral propagation program and live rock collection.

The islands of Vanuatu can be reached by plane through New Zealand, Australia, Fiji and New Caledonia. We are located 1750 kms east of northern Australia and 500 kms NE of New Caledonia. Vanuatu was featured on the first “Survivor” of the series as the island of fire and it is very true. Vanuatu has a number of active volcanoes and is no stranger to earthquakes.

Vanuatu has three official languages English, French and Bislama, a local Pidgin language combining English with a Melanesian grammar.

Vanuatu has the highest density of languages per capita in the world with an average of 2000 speakers per language. Vanuatu has also been voted the happiest place on earth for many years running.
